Mirrors

What could be a better reflector of one's life than one's own spouse? I certainly have been blessed with a great one. Nevertheless, sometimes when that person makes an accurate observation, it can be painful. Especially since Truth, as we know, can sometimes hurt. But thanks be to God, that Truth isn't meant to be painful in a sadistic way, but rather as an instrument in our growth.

One of the recurring areas of sin in my life is sloth, or acedia, or for a simpler word, laziness. Physically, spiritually, relationally. This sin has ramifications in many areas in my life. Lord, You alone have the words of eternal life. Help me in this! I believe - help my unbelief. Or rather, I don't want to be lazy - help me in my laziness.

Amen.
